USCIS Streamlines Applications by Accepting Credit Card Payments

USCIS-now-accept-credit-card-payments-for-most-formsWhen undertaking the daunting, paperwork-intensive task of applying for an immigration visa, even small changes to the process can streamline the experience and make the whole procedure more pleasant for applicants. As of February 2018, USCIS is now accepting credit card payments for 41 fee-based forms. To qualify for this convenience, applicants must use Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transaction. Once this form has been accepted, applicants can pay their fees using Mastercard, Visa, American Express, or Discover. These transactions are fully secured using the Pay.gov Lockbox facility, and the G-1450 forms are destroyed to protect customer data.

Immigration Forms That Can Be Filed and Paid with a Credit Card

Previously, the option to pay by credit card was only open to those renewing or replacing green cards and naturalization applicants. Forms encompassed by this initiative include common immigration forms like I-526, Immigrant Petition by an Alien Entrepreneur, I-140 Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, and I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, and many others. Opening this option up for other types of applicants will speed up processing times and lighten the workload for those who already have plenty on their plates as prospective immigrants to the United States.
